Thank you to everyone who joined the hundreds of participants and visitors to the annual North Beach Polar Bear Swim in the Chesapeake Bay on Tuesday, January 1, 2008. The skies were blue, the weather mild and with little wind over 120 registered bathers dashed into the Chesapeake Bay while three times that number watched from the sidelines.

This year, as in the past, Delegate Kullen and her campaign team passed out over 10 gallons of home-made chili to over 100 wet and appreciative participants of the swim.

Delegate Kullen's award-winning chili recipe is available upon request by sending an e-mail to Chili Recipe!

Thanks to the Town of North Beach for including us in such a wonderful community event, and to Mayor Mike Bojokles and his Administration and Public Works crew for setting up the event.

Below are a few photos of participants enjoying the chili after their chilly swim -

The Volunteer Chili Support Team helped Delegate Sue Kullen 'dish' out over 100 bowls of homemade chili during the Annual North Beach Polar Swim. Joining Sue were, from left, Jenny Cook, Monica Silbas and Albert Ybarra.

Enjoying a bowl or cup? Students from Northern High School enjoyed the dip (left) and then the piping hot chili (right). Note the number of observers on the town pier!
